The very thin dough made from flour, egg, sugar, water, oil, and salt, is filled with a variety of ingredients based on personal preference and region. Some common examples are sausage, cheese, or egg. Also served as a dessert, the akitma may contain jam or jelly with nuts or fresh fruit.
