What Is? Piliç Çevirme (window chickens)

window chickens
Piliç Çevirme, or rotisserie chickens, are a common sight spinning in the windows of Istanbul shops.

Meat cooked on a stick over fire can hardly be attributed to any one race or nationality, but the Turks have made a special effort to make the rotisserie chicken their own. Coated with (often) house blend spice powder, and roasted on spits over a propane powered flame, these chickens serve the duel purpose of being an easy and delicious dinner, as well as an outlet for near out of date chickens are the local butchery.
