Along the back alleys behind the Rüstem Paşa mosque, among the dark crowded passageways where everything is sold in bulk from blank DVDs to stuffed animals to tractor parts, lies a most unsuspecting little restaurant called Virginia Angus Burger and Steakhouse. Not your typical workman”s lunch in Istanbul, Virginia claims to sell only the best black Angus beef with top quality marbling I am unable to speak to the truth of this claim… additionally I have personally never heard of any famous black Angus beef coming from Virginia, isn’t that a Texas thing?
Being of a curious nature though, it seemed best to give the place a try. A variety of burger combos and other grilled meats are on the menu, I opted for the house burger in the 120 gram size which comes in at under 10 lira with fries. The burger was not particularly well cooked, and the fries were seasoned with mint and soggy. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, but an oddity nonetheless. A good choice of sauces on the table was a nice touch
