What Is? Imam Bayildi

imam bayildi
Imam Bayildi, literally meaning The Priest Fainted, is a dish composed of halved eggplants, stuffed with fresh vegetables and herbs.

Not dissimilar from the more famous dish Musakka, which is an eggplant stew, this dish has a bit more texture, and a more appealing presentation.

Eggplants are sliced lengthwise, and the skins are peeled in strips for style. The flesh inside is scooped out and mixed with tomatoes, onions, and peppers, then stuffed back inside for baking.

Often served with a rice pilav, the dish can be found at some lokantas and other restaurants.
